Non-Profit Education in Wilderness Medicine

As a company, Mountain Medical Academy has always had the mission to bring high-quality wilderness education to everyone who seeks to adventure in the outdoors. In the fall of 2020, we decided to switch directions and apply for 501(c)(3) non-profit status. This will allow us to work more closely with our physician and hospital partners, as well as other non-profits to better serve the community.

We want to make sure the non-profit’s mission, vision, and values hold true to the original intent of starting Mountain Medical Academy. The board of directors are working tirelessly to adhere to all federal, state, and local guidelines that govern 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.

What does this mean for you?

  • Better partnerships with hospitals, physicians, non-profits, and industry groups to make sure that you are getting the best education in outdoor medicine

  • Lower cost tuition and free classes. When you strip away profit motive, classes become more affordable and we are able to offer free lectures and lessons that will better serve the community.

  • Better Accountability The Board of Directors will have to adhere to all laws governing 501(c)(3) non-profits. This means that you can be confident that when you purchase a class in wilderness medicine through Mountain Medical Academy, you know that the funds will help bring high-quality wilderness education to everyone who needs it.
